Resume and Cover Letter Tips

Some general resume tips for experienced and aspiring club professionals:

  • Don’t limit yourself to one page if a listing of your experience and accomplishments will exceed one page. That said, be careful to avoid subjective statements without quantifable validation or proof.
  • Be specific about current and past work experience – i.e., clearly spell out the name of the club or business, identify where it’s located, and list your most recent job title, in addition to any past job titles at that employer. Bullet-out your specific responsibilities and supportable accomplishments.
  • Try to avoid complex or fancy formatting in your resume. If copy from your resume is extracted electronically (for example, if it’s cut and pasted into emails or databases), indents and bullets don’t always translate neatly.
