Astoria Golf and Country Club (AGCC) was seeking to fill our Club House manager position with expertise and leadership after cycling through 6 managers in the past 8 years. Our need for a professional process led AGCC to choose GSI as the lead in our search and pivot to a General Manager format. We identified a drastic need for a culture change and leadership to guide an iconic and somewhat remote club as we embarked on our 100-year anniversary. GSI’s team of experts exhibited integrity, experience and an ethical approach, led by David Robinson, guiding the search committee through a very thought out and orchestrated process identifying potential candidates.
AGCC success in filling the GM position can be directly contributed to the partnership executed between GSI and our search committee. The club has seen improvement beyond our expectations in all compartments in the 5 months of new leadership. The young and dynamic leadership team has experienced membership engagement and growth in club activities, bar and restaurant services and golf course events unprecedented in the last 20 years.
The BOD’s review of the search process confirmed our decision to engage GSI to team up with the search committee to fill the GM position we truly needed to “get right”. GSI’s established process, integrity, ethics and most importantly results bear out our decision to engage GSI and would recommend their services for any important club management position.
